major key
We all have those major key pieces that we just can't live without. Those items that all of your decor centers around, the proverbial linchpin, if you will.
For me that boils down to just a couple things: my favorite candle, some wreaths or greenery, and no shortage of manger scenes.
Honestly, this candle deserves a post all it's own. It has been a staple in my home for 3+ years now. I've tested so many other Christmas tree scented candles and none of them hold.....a candle....to this one! It really is a thoroughly authentic smell, like you're a room of fresh cut trees. There's nothing fake or overly aggressive about it, like I've found in some others. I have given it to countless friends, co-workers, and family members as Christmas gifts and invariably everyone loves it! My sister even likes it so much that she burns it year round. (not a joke) So pick one up for yourself, and I assure you that your whole house will thank me.
Secondly, I am a sucker for all things green. Usually I go for the classic evergreen wreath on the front door, but this year I just couldn't say no to this classy swag. It's a nice departure from the norm while still being well within the traditional realm. I especially love the little touches of pine cones and winter berries! Inside my home, I also opted for a classic *real* fir garland a la Trader Joe's draped around my windows with some twinkle lights to boot. And aaaaaahhh, is it nice!
Lastly, but certainly most importantly there are the manger scenes. I want as much Jesus as my little apartment will hold. Because He really is the sweetest part of the season. These are a few of my favorite that I have sprinkled around our home. The first is from our local bookstore, Logos and I snagged the sheep manger scene (squeal!) from Wisteria's after-Christmas sale last year. The others have been collected here and there along the way.
But possibly the most tender one for me is the single painting of Jesus in his manger by Ginger Leigh Designs. I just can't get over it and I'm considering keeping it out well after Christmas this year.
We're one day closer to the merriest day of the year, friends! Hope you're making the most of this season.
