long time coming
If you've been following along, you know that I've had an itch to make this purchase for mooooonths and even hinted at it in February. And yes friends, I finally clicked that elusive "confirm purchase" button on this gorgeous headboard!
And it is everything I'd hoped it would be. You always have to give major props to Wayfair for their free shipping on larger purchases *praise!* and the assembly was pretty straightforward too. The only complication was that the headboard was really quite heavy - but I won't complain too much about that because it makes me feel that it's of good quality. If it had been thin and flimsy I would have been worried that I'd wasted my money on something cheaply made.
After just about 10 minutes of me on the living room floor with an alan wrench and a measuring tape, the whole thing was put together and good to go. All it took was a little extra muscle (good thing I've been working out!) to get it up and slid into place behind the bed.
Now admittedly, I haven't actually "installed" it per say, so much as I've just slid it behind the bed and wedged it between the frame and the wall. I couldn't quite figure out how to attach it to the metal bed frame itself - but we'll tackle that another day. I'm not an engineer-minded person, so I couldn't figure out how it was supposed to lock in with the bed frame, which just goes to show you how simple the assembly must have been - since I was able to do that!
I've seen some headboards from discount sights like Wayfair or Joss and Main before where I feel you could tell they were discount - the padding was thin, the nailheads were not aligned, the tufting wasn't uniform, the fabric was more polyester than linen - you get the idea. But I have been overly pleased with this one - I have yet to file a complaint about it. The tufting is sturdily and consistently executed, the padding is nice and thick without being too plush, and the fabric is a true linen in texture and appearance.
I think my favorite element of having this new piece in place is the added height. I had to take down my window that had been above my bed for over a year because the new headboard was so tall. I knew it would be a bump in height, but I was pleasantly surprised by how big that bump was. It has shifted the aesthetic of the room to a more polished direction. Just take a look at the then and now!
I have not yet figured out what I'll hang over my bed, now that the height has been raised and there is a curve in the silhouette of the headboard to afford for. As of now, the wreath and hand lettering are just temporary placeholders until I'm able to gather more inspiration and find just the right piece to hang above the bed. So once again, I hope you'll stay tuned to see the final product!
Want to snag it for yourself? Because I highly recommend it! (Pssst....if you keep tabs on it for a couple weeks, you're bound to catch a sale and snag it at a "I can't believe it " price!)
